CMSA; NOTES FROM MENDOCINO COUNTY (here for the month of august)..People often tell me i'm "talented"...i gotta say though; "not particularly"...In Art School (tyler school of art) i was not one of the young stars, in fact i would guess most of my teachers wouldn't even recall who i was if you asked them...but after 40 years, i still paint everyday and i'm gonna say that was always the case (though had to take 6 months off with the birth of each of two babies...sleep depravation being hell on art)..mostly though, i painted through times where there were many more compelling reasons to quit than there were to continue.. i think the key to my abilities today is just a stubborn refusal to admit defeat...yeah, yo mama was right; "5% talent, 80% perspiration and 15% luck" (hope that adds up to 100, we didn't have math in art school after all)....
